This is a song about build-ups and let-downs; expectation versus reality; what you want and what you get. I don't think of it as explicitly or uniquely about a contemporary American experience but that being the one I have is obvious a strong influence. There is a deep, dark, gnawing irony to so few being able to live in luxury unparalleled in history while millions and millions of people starve and sleep in streets, and this is a way of me letting out that frustration in a playful "sing-song" way.
