This song is born from Kurt Vonnegut's "God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater" and the concept of the money river in that book. In this case, the river becomes a vessel, "The Spirit of Money", and the point-of-view character is a much less socially aware person that Eliot Rosewater.
It's not musically the most complex thing I've ever written but I'm pretty proud of the closing couplet of the song to the point that I felt like it justified the inclusion on this album.
